After 20 years of expectation, the residents of Moscow's 'bedroom" district of Zhulebino will get access to the subway as two new statons of Violet Line -- Zhulebino and Lermontovsky Prospekt (Lermontov Avenue) -- open on Wednesday. They will become an extension of the Taganka-Krasnaya Presnya Line, one of the busiest in the Russian capital. These statons will be the 189th and 190th respectively. The new stations will provide access to the subway for up to 90 percent of district residents -- about 100,000 people -- to alleviate transportation via the Vykhino station by 50 percent. Previously, distrit people had to get to Vykhino by bus, whereas now they will be able to save 20 mnutes of travel time on average.
