Author Loren Denny has never had it easy. A skull fracture at a young age caused him behavioral issues. At age 15, he became addicted to drugs and alcohol. At 45, he was incarcerated for the first time. It was in jail that he began writing.
With the discovery of an affinity for writing poetry, he decided this newfound medium could be used as an outlet to discuss his past addictions as well as his recovery through God. His new poetry collection, “Climbing up From the Depths: Poems by Loren Denny” (published by Trafford Publishing), is Denny’s account of drug and alcohol addiction as well as his struggles with mental illness.
Through his poetry, Denny tells readers of his struggles with schizophrenia and addiction as well as his path to health and sobriety. He also reflects on other subjects including love, spirituality and nature. “Climbing up From the Depths” contains both humor and serious reflection. Denny hopes that readers who might be struggling with the same addictions will find hope in his verses.
