Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Al Qattara Arts Centre has launched its newest initiative as part of the Al Ain Cultural Programme 2017/2018.
Al Qattara Cinema, a platform which will be used to introduce UAE film-makers to the world, made its debut with a film screening of 'The Lights of Rome', directed by filmmaker Ali Khaled.
'The Lights of Rome' documents the story of the UAE national football team’s historic achievement of qualifying for the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. The film focused on many characters who played a huge part in this momentous event, including administrative officials and players.
The Al Qattara Cinema programme will introduce audiences to UAE films and their various artistic directions, providing a cinematic platform that celebrates local filmmakers and brings them closer to audiences as well as reinforcing the link between the local community and the arts.
