Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham became some of the first to experience Universal Studios Hollywood's newest Fast & Furious-themed ride.
At a red carpet premier Tuesday, the stars, alongside filmmakers and production executives, lined up to ride Fast & Furious -- Supercharged, which is an immersive "hydraulic motion-based" attraction that follows an original story. Studio Tour guests enter into a "trolly" surrounded by a 360-degree screen which envelopes them into a (naturally) fast-paced street chase.
After stepping off his first ride, actor Vin Diesel was blown away. "Wow...wow was that cool. It's incredible, it's really remarkable," he's quoted in a statement from the park. "It's not like anything I've ever seen. Everyone on the tram said 'Cand we do it again?' It's super cool."
The immersive experience also features life-like holograms of the film's major stars -- including Diesel, Rodriguez, Gibson and Dwayne Johnson -- called Pepper's Ghost.
"It was surreal," Diesel told USA Today after the ride. "My son looked over at me during the ride and said, 'There's two of you.' I've never had that happen to me before."
Chick Russell, Universal's creative executive producer for the ride told the outlet that the studios have developed a "new technology that allows us to place the stars so they look absolutely like they're present in a dimensional set."
