Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will meet on Monday with his Italian counterpart Paolo Gentiloni, who is due to arrive in Cairo tomorrow on an official visit.
They will discuss ways of bolstering ties between the two countries in all fields, as well as a number of issues of mutual concern, especially the anti-terror war.
The visit comes two days after a terrorist attack that targeted the Italian Consulate in Cairo, killing one person and injuring nine others.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the early morning blast, which caused heavy damage to the consulate. It shook other buildings downtown and could be heard in several surrounding neighborhoods.
Italy's Foreign Minister said there were no Italian victims in the blast. "Italy will not be intimidated," he said on Twitter.
