United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is due to pay a visit to Tunisia next October 10 and 11, communication officer at the Presidency of the Republic Chaker Bouajila told TAP on Saturday.
Ban Ki-moon had told Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki at their meeting last Monday on the sidelines of the 69th U.N. General Assembly he was planning to visit Tunisia “in a symbolic gesture in support to its democratic transition experience” which he called a “model,” said Bouajila.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced earlier on Saturday that Minister Mongi Hamdi had met in New York with the head of the office of the U.N. Secretary-General to prepare for this visit.
