About 30 researchers from Egypt, the US and Mediterranean states will take part in the Alexandria International Conference on Maritime and Underwater Archaeology due to kick off on October 31.
In statements to MENA on Wednesday, CDUA Director General Mohamed Moustafa Abdel Meguid said the three-day event marks the 20th anniversary of establishing the Central Department of Underwater Antiquities (CDUA).
The conference will focus on the most important discoveries of sunken antiquities, ship-building from the Pharaonic to the Islamic era and the archaeological Egyptian harbors, he said.
Key international and Egyptian figures and institutions who contributed to discovering sunken Egyptian antiquities will be honored during the event, he said.
