President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Tuesday Taleb al Rifai, Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) with Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou attending, spokesman for the Presidency Alaa Youssef said.
Egypt pays great attention to the tourism sector as the key pillar of Egyptian economy, President Sisi said during the meeting.
Egypt spares no effort to provide the highest security and safety standards for the Egyptian people and tourists coming from all over the world, President Sisi said.
Egypt seeks stabilizing modern technology as a means to raise the level of security, in cooperation with friendly countries, he added.
For his part, the UNWTO chief praised efforts exerted by Egypt to promote security and safety standards for tourists in the Egyptian airports and ports along with various tourist destinations.
Such measures will help restore tourism inflow, Rifai said, noting that Egypt has the ability to overcome various crises.
The government has taken several measures in support of the tourism sector, according to Egypt's tourism minister.
