Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday evening had talks with French President Francois Hollande on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly meetings here.
President Sisi hailed the development of bilateral relations in several domains, appreciating France's selling of two aircraft carriers to Egypt, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef.
The French president lauded historical relations between the two countries, praising the close cooperation between Egypt and France, added the spokesman.
Hollande asserted that Egypt is one of the most important partners for his country in the Middle East, the spokesman said.
France is keen on consulting Egypt over several regional issues, especially regarding the Libyan and Syrian crises and the peace process between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, the spokesman quoted Hollande as saying.
