Sharjah Ruler meets with Palestinian poets
Sharjah - Arab Today

H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Tuesday met with an elite group of Palestinian poets participating in the Sharjah Folklore Poetry Forum, at Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies.

The event was organised by the Sharjah Centre for Popular Poetry at the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information.

The meeting underscored the Sheikh Sultan's keenness on meeting with Arab intellectuals and poets and his continuous support for Arab poets and poetry.

Addressing the poets, Sheikh Sultan said that culture is the shelter in the light of wars, and instability, and the only way to protect humans and preserve Arab and international literary and artistic heritage. The Sharjah Ruler also noted that Sharjah, through its large cultural project and role, has been committed to achieve cultural integration between various Arab countries.

The poets hailed the support of the Sharjah Ruler to the Arab nation's issues in general and the Palestinian issue in particular. They also hailed the overall cultural renaissance witnessed by the emirate, deeming it a hub for Arab intellectuals and a centre for spreading science and culture. They also extended thanks and appreciation to the Sharjah Ruler and the organisers of the event for the warm welcome.

A number of officials attended the meeting.
