King Salman ben Abdel Azix held on Thursday a phone call with US President Barack Obama over the continued Israeli escalation in Al Aqsa Mosque.
King Salman strongly condemned the serious Israeli escalation in the mosque, Muslims' third holy shrine, and the repeated storming of Israeli forces to the mosque yards, the Saudi press agency reported.
He called on the United Nations to take an immediate action to end such violations and protect the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.
He warned that such attacks would feed extremism and violence in the Middle East and the entire world as well.
Tensions have been running high at the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex after Jewish extremists called on followers to storm the mosque during Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
Dozens of Israeli forces forced their way into the mosque compound over the past few days and attacked Muslim worshipers, sparking outrage in the Muslim world.
