President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena received on Friday UAE Foreign Minister H.H. sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan who is currently on a visit to Sri Lanka.
Sheikh Abdullah conveyed to President Sirisena greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and their wishes of further progress and prosperity to the people of Sri Lanka.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of enhancing economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries and to tap investment opportunities in the fields of tourism, food security, fisheries and energy.
The President of Sri Lanka welcomed Sheikh Abdullah and reciprocated greetings to Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
He expressed his country's keenness to develop its relations with the UAE and praised the achievements made by the UAE under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
the meeting was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Colombo Abdul Hamid Abdul Fattah Kazim Al Mulla.
