Prime Minister Hani Mulqi on Tuesday discussed with head of the Senate’s Labour and Development Committee, Hala Bseiso, and rapporteur Sameer Morad ways to forge closer cooperation and coordination between the government and the Senate.
During the meeting, attended by Senate President Faisal al-Fayez, Mulki said the government would welcome the panel’s proposals to address domestic woes, top of which are poverty and unemployment.
Al-Fayez said the Upper House is seeking to enhance communication with representatives of the development and services sectors to enhance cooperation between legislative and executive authorities.
The two sides agreed to hold a meeting between the Senate chairman and rapporteur and the Ministers of Labor, Education and Social Development to discuss the recommendations put forward by the panel, which were based on field visits and meetings it had held with representatives of development and service sectors.
