Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab held a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt Diaa al-Dabas to discuss means of enhancing cooperation.
The meeting tackled ways to promote cooperation in the various fields, mainly in the oil field, said Spokesman for the cabinet Hossam al-Qawish.
During the meeting, Mahlab voiced Egypt's support for Iraq's new government under Haider al-Abadi, voicing hope it could fulfill the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
The Egyptian companies are keen on playing an important role in the reconstruction of Iraq and increasing the volume of trade between Egypt and Iraq, Mahlab said.
Mahlab directed to preparing for a planned visit by Egyptian businessmen to Iraq to discuss promoting ties.
