Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki, who started an official visit to Japan on Wednesday, met in Tokyo with Chairman of the Japanese Parliament’s Security Committee Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi and other members of the parliament.
During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury, Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Minister of Finance Omar Malhas, Al Mulki affirmed Jordan’s stance on the political and security situation in the Middle East, regional crises as well and their repercussions on Jordan.
He said that throughout history, Jordan received waves of forced migrations, the last of which were 1.3 million Syrian refugees and noted that such mass migrations have posed economic, security and social challenges to the Kingdom.
The prime minister reviewed efforts exerted by Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II to bring about peace and stability in the region, adding that Jordan remained an oasis for security and stability despite regional conditions and challenges.
Chairman of the committee and members of the delegation that comprised two former defense ministers, voiced understanding of Jordan’s political and economic situation, noting that they will work through the parliament to ensure continued support to Jordan to enable it to continue its role in the region and provide services to the refugees.
They also highlighted the importance of continued support to Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to achieve security, peace and stability in the region.
Earlier, today, Al Mulki arrived in the Japanese capital Tokyo during which he will hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and other senior Japanese officials.
The talks are expected to cover bilateral ties and means to further boost them in the political, economic and trade fields in addition to the latest developments in the region.
