Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (C)
Abu Dhabi - WAM

His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces, yesterday presided over a meeting of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council where he checked on the progress of various government projects and services.
The Council members reviewed a report on government performance in major sectors and how effectively it was aligned with Key Performance Indicators.
The Council stressed the importance of regular reviews of performance in government projects and services and addressing all challenges.
Also reviewed was the progress of work on the emirate's plan for realising the Abu Dhabi Vision. The plan entails setting medium term objectives, relevant programmes and their KPIs.
The plan is being developed in phases and under a mechanism that allows for effective engagement by all stakeholders. The plan covers all government activities, and involves proper tracking and evaluation of performance.
The plan's draft is currently being evaluated by the government sectors to ensure that it is commensurate with the respective goals and programmes.
The Council members reviewed the progress of work on 60 housing projects, being implemented in different parts of the emirate, at a total cost of Dh 60 billion.
The importance attached to housing is an extension of the approach directed by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide decent living standards and familial stability to the citizens.
Work on the first phase of Ni'ma housing project is nearing completion. The project will see 788 villas built in Al Dhahfra ranches, 60 villas in Bid'a A, Matawa'a, and 20 villas in Al Yabana. The finishing touches are also being applied to the Watani housing project, citizens' housing in Ain Al Faydha and the Abu Samra Housing project.
Infrastructure work is also underway on 60,605 land plots in the emirate and on 14,893 houses.
The Council members approved the initial works for government staff housing project in Ruwais at a total cost of Dh 291 million. The integrated housing complex will serve the employees of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and other operating companies in Ruwais.
The mixed use complex will be built on a 5.2 square kilometre piece of land and is designed to accommodate 30,000 residents, dwelling in 6,359 housing units.
The Council also okayed infrastructure work along the periphery of the Razin Labour City at a total cost of Dh 463 million. The work will be carried out by Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada).
The Council sanctioned the 400 KV power transmission line between Barakah and Al Ruwais and the opening of the Al Silaa-Al Shuwaihat 2 line to link Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.
The Dh 168 million project is aimed at establishing a power link-up and supply power when the safe, reliable and environment-friendly nuclear power plant becomes operational in 2017.
