Jordan's Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, on Tuesday, discussed in Moscow bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East, especially the Syrian crisis and the Palestinian issue.
In a joint statement ahead of the meeting, Safadi said a Jordanian-Russian summit, which will be held in Moscow tomorrow, would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations, developing cooperation and promoting the two countries' coordination of efforts toward resolving conflicts in the region and building security and stability, Jordan Petra news agency reported.
Safadi reiterated Jordan's support for efforts to stop the suffering of the Syrian people and support a comprehensive ceasefire in all of Syria, as a step towards resuming the UN-led political talks, in accordance with the agreed terms of reference.
For his part, Lavrov said Russia is keen to continue coordination, consultation and cooperation with Jordan on various regional issues and challenges.
