The Joint Council for Planning and Excellence, which includes four government bodies chaired by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, has organised a workshop on developing future outlooks, strategies and "preemptive" initiatives in preparation for the post-oil era.
The multi-session workshop which was attended by heads and officials of the federal bodies involved in the council - the General Civil Aviation Authority, the Insurance Authority, the Securities and Commodities Authority, as well as the Ministry of Economy- seeks to promote a culture of strategic thinking and exploration of the future to support economic growth and an innovation-based economy.
During the workshop, Minister Al Mansouri spoke about the importance of forecasting the future in planning to counter challenges.
He noted that the process is an essential standard of government excellence for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Government Excellence Award and is in line with the country's leaders He said the council looks forward to participants' contributions and innovative ideas to be used in developing scenarios for the future and identifying positive prospects for the economy.
Al Mansouri added that developing future outlooks are aimed at upgrading government work and enhances the UAE's global stature.
