His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Sakhir Palace today Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh and Health Ministry staff members.
HM the King welcomed them at the meeting which, he said, comes within the framework of continuous follow-up on the unrelenting efforts of the public institutions to fast-track development and optimise services. He lauded the positive results of the health system in Bahrain thanks to the efforts of the Health Minister and her work team. He pointed out that this development in the health sector in Bahrain is emphasised by indices and specialised international reports confirming Bahrain’s commitment to high international standards.
HM King Hamad said advancement of the health sector is a natural dividend of national policies and initiatives which started as early as the 20th century and gradually developed in terms of equipping the medical infrastructure, upgrading systems, grooming specialised competencies and encouraging the private sector’s investment in the medical field.
HM the King hailed the monitoring role of specialised authorities, including mainly the Supreme Health Council presided by Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa. He also praised the world-class medical services in Bahrain, pointing out laying the foundation of the health system by late Amir His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa more than a century ago.
The Health Minister expressed honour in meeting HM the King, commending the unflinching royal support to the Health Ministry and its personnel which serves as an incentive to achieve the royal aspirations to provide the best medical services for Bahraini citizens. She affirmed the major medical strides made by Bahrain in the prosperous era of HM the King to keep abreast of contemporary changes. She also paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, for their support and keenness on citizens’ health and well-being.
The Health Minister pointed out the role of the National Action Charter and the constitution in laying a solid foundation for the health system and its development in Bahrain. She stressed the growing effectiveness of the system under the royal reform project which placed Bahrain on equal par with the developed countries in this respect according to 2016 human development report.
The Health Minister cited the ministry’s achievements over the past years like the extension project of some sections at Salmaniya Medical Complex, developing the public health labs comprehensively, setting up primary and secondary healthcare centres nationwide and outfitting them with cutting edge equipment and cooperating with the Supreme Health Council regarding mainly the health insurance project which will bring about a quality leap in the health services provided for citizens and residents alike.
The Health Minister praised Bahrain’s medical accomplishments, paying tribute to the highly competent and well-qualified Bahraini cadres and pledging to spare no effort in serving Bahrain.
HM the King held a lunch banquet in honour of the Health Ministry staff.
