HE Foreign Minister of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met Wednesday with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and the delegation accompanying him, who are currently on a visit to the country.
They discussed bilateral relations as well as GCC-Iranian ties. The two sides also discussed issues of joint interest and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments. HE the Foreign Minister stressed Qatar's commitment to having good ties with all its neighboring countries to promote security and stability in the region. His Excellency added that Qatar was also committed to cooperating with neighboring countries to the benefit of its peoples. HE the Foreign Minister then stressed on the importance of basing GCC-Iranian ties on mutual respect and avoiding the interference in the sovereign affairs of other countries, in accordance to international law. HE the Foreign Minister also stressed on the importance of settling any disputes through negotiations and dialogue.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his hope for further development of bilateral ties in the future. He added that Iran looks forward to cooperating with Qatar to find solutions to many of the regional issues and establish security and stability in the region.
