Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had talks with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra'ad Zeid Al Hussein on the sidelines of his participation in the 34th session of the Human Rights Council.
In statements Thursday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the two sides discussed technical cooperation between Egypt and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), as well as human rights conditions in the Middle East.
The foreign minister stressed the importance of engaging in direct dialogue to closely stand on human rights conditions in the region and promoting coordination to protect human rights, the spokesman added.
Egypt, in its capacity as a member of the council, attaches importance to dialogue, joint action, capacity building to face current challenges to human rights, he said.
