Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a meeting Thursday with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Martin Kobler in Addis Ababa.
During a one-hour meeting on the sidelines of the Executive Council of Ministers of the AU, Shoukry and Kobler discussed efforts exerted to form the Libyan unity government and latest developments in the Arab country.
Kobler stressed importance of a key Egyptian role to enhance stability and peace in Libya, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
Kobler added that Cairo can play the main role in bringing the Libyan parties together because it has close relations with various in Libya, Abu Zeid added.
For his part, Shoukry stressed the importance of taking into account every group in Libya to reach a consensus on the government.
Also, he warned against wasting more time to avoid growth of the terrorist groups in Libya.
The two sides agreed on remaining in close contact over the next few days to concert efforts needed to empower the Libyan people reach their right to stability.
