Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Hatem Seif El Nasr met on Tuesday with Swedish Ambassador in Cairo Ms. Charlotta Sparre, within the framework of Egypt's diplomatic efforts to promote Arab-European ties.
The meeting focused on the recent crisis between Saudi Arabia and Sweden which resulted from statements by the Swedish foreign minister against Riyadh.
Seif Al Nasr voiced concern over tension in Saudi-Swedish ties, rejecting interference in the domestic affairs of other countries.
He expressed Egypt's keenness on mutual cooperation between Arab states and Sweden without touching Arab and Islamic values.
For her part, the Swedish ambassador expressed her country's respect of the Islamic countries, expressing hope for bringing Saudi-Swedish relations to normal as soon as possible with ending the crisis.
