Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb on Friday telephoned Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to condemn the blast that targeted a Shiite mosque in Kuwait earlier in the day.
Tayyeb expressed condolences to Sabah and the families of the victims.
He voiced Azhar's support for the Kuwaiti leadership and people in their fight against terrorism and extremism.
The Imam said that such terror attacks would not discourage Muslims from fighting such radical ideologies that contradict with Islam's "peaceful" teachings.
A terrorist attack targeted two hotels in Tunisia earlier in the day, leaving 27 people dead and six others wounded.
