Upon his nomination as a Special Ambassador to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations Specialized Agency for Tourism, in Madrid, January 16, 2017, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh announced that he has already started consultations with the S.G. UN organization to establish a regional center in Amman, Jordan. Abu-Ghazaleh highly commended the positive response of Dr. Taleb Rifai.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh who was honored to meet His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain on the occasion of the UNWTO Madrid General Meeting, affirmed to the Spanish Monarch that Jordan treasures and values the Spanish pioneering tourism experience.
Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his willingness to lead an international team that aims to benefit from the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) enabling capacities in developing sustainable tourism, noting that Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh had previously chaired the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UNGAID). He also served on the World Trade Organization (WTO) Panel to Identify 21st Century Trade Challenges.
Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his deep appreciation for the generous hospitality of HM King Felipe VI towards the ministers of tourism participating in the meeting stressing how greatly honored and proud he was of his audience with the King.
