H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has stressed the UAE's effective commitment to its partnership with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and member states, in their efforts to encourage the growth of the renewable energy sector to compete strongly in the global market.
He also emphasised the continuation of cooperation with the agency and countries across the world to increase renewable energy solutions and clean technologies.
The remarks were made when Sheikh Abdullah received on Tuesday, Adnan Z. Amin, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), at the ministry.
Sheikh Abdullah and Amin reviewed the latest developments related to IRENA's work progress and joint cooperation fields. They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation at all areas, which would enhance the presence of the Abu Dhabi-based agency.
IRENA's Director-General hailed the role played by the UAE and its support for the IRENA, which contributes to ensuring the success of its strategy, objectives and future plans.
He also praised the UAE's commitment to enhancing the spread of renewable energy and clean technology solutions at the local and global levels.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and Ali Al Shafar, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) also attended the meeting.
