The British Council’s Culture Shift Lab, a three-day programme that will offer nationals and residents in the UAE the opportunity to work together with industry experts to develop digital ideas, will be held in 'thejamjar' Art Gallery in Al Quoz, Dubai, from March 26th - 28th.
Culture Shift is the British Council’s global innovation programme where business ideas are generated and tested by designers, developers, innovators, individuals and groups from the local cultural sector, and the Culture Shift Lab will explore how technology can be used to stimulate new ideas and solutions to benefit the cultural sector in the UAE.
2015 was announced by the UAE Government as the Year of Innovation, and the British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, is hosting the Lab for the first time in the region, where up to 40 people will selected to take part, includding designers, artists, curators, developers, architects, copywriters, entrepreneurs and innovators.
Marc Jessel, Director of the British Council in the UAE said, "Since 2011, Culture Shift Labs have been held all over the world in countries including Kenya, South America, South Africa and Egypt, stimulating cultural economies across the globe. The model has a proven track record in encouraging innovation in the cultural sector across the globe and we are excited to be offering it in Dubai for the first time. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are either already working in the digital industry or who have no experience and just the beginnings of a great idea but need help to make it a reality." The British Council also said that those who wish to take part should sign up before the deadline on Saturday, March 14th.
