His Majesty's Personal Representative His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa has today deputised Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa to attend the final ceremony of the 12th annual Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Contest.
Senior officials, leading personalities, and ambassadors attended the event at the Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Centre in Manama. Holy Quran Custody Society Chairman Isaac bin Rashid Al-Kooheji addressed the ceremony, paying tribute to HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for patronising the annual contest.
He also extended thanks to Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa, hailing the wise leadership for its support. He stressed the importance of the contest, pointing out that the Islamic World League ranked the Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Contest as being the best competition in the world.
Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Contest Organising Committee Chairman Abdul Ghani Abduaziz Qahtan Al-Omari then announced the final results. Libyan Mohammed Al-Hadi bin Bashir won the Memorization Category Award, followed respectively by Saleh Abdulla (Yemen), Haroon Mamado Hassan (Niger), Mohammed Taleb Mardan (Iraq) and Mohammed Hasaballa Mahmadov (Kirgizstan).
Meanwhile, Kenyan Haitham Saqr Ahmed swooped the top award in the Recitation Category, followed by Faisal Ismael (Turkey) and Saleh Abdulla Mohammed (Yemen). All the participants who competed in the Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Contest were honoured, along with the Award Jury led by Chairman Saudi Dr. Shaikh Amine bin Idris bin Abdulrahman Falatah. The organising committee has allocated cash prizes worth BD40,000 to honour all the participants who competed in the Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Contest .
