The centenary of the birth of the musician Sheikh Abdelkrim Dali (1914-2014) was celebrated Sunday night in Algiers by the presentation of a new stamp bearing the effigy of the artist and the performance of an Andalusian recital, by several associations.
A postage stamp, bearing the picture of Sheikh Abdelkrim Dali painted by Djazia Cherrih, was published by the National Company Algerie Post and unveiled to the public in an official ceremony.
"This stamp will be an ambassador of Algerian culture throughout the world, it was published on the request of Abdelkrim Dali Foundation," said the representative of the national enterprise, Algeria Post.
Speakers from the large audience of music lovers attending the evening have later shared their testimonies, recalling the great qualities and educational skills of the artist and his permanent desire to pass on his passion for music and singing to his students.
A 58 minute documentary, produced in 2011 as part of the "Tlemcen, Capital Islamic Culture" by Bounouar Bekkar on the course of the master of the Andalusian song was screened.
