Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation will this month launch an exhibition dedicated to exploring the lives of Muslim communities throughout China.
'Moments in the Lives of Muslims in China – Through the Lens of Peter Sanders', is a comprehensive photo essay by Peter Sanders, who is considered the pre-eminent photographer of the Muslim world.
Opening on March 16, the collection of 50 large-scale images is the first ever photographic art exhibition on Muslims in China to be held in the Arab World.
Manal Ataya, Director-General of Sharjah Museums Department, said: "We are honored to host this exhibition that provides unique insight into the little-known daily lives of Muslim communities all over China as seen through the lens of the prolific photographer, Peter Sanders.
"This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for our community to explore his incredible work and his portrayal of striking regional subcultures that are unique in the Muslim world," he added.
Peter Sanders himself will be attending the opening day of the exhibition, which runs until June 11, 2017.
