The president of the national human rights council (cndh) driss el yazami said, on Friday, that the "rif museum", to be built in Al Hoceima, represents a key mechanism for preserving the heritage and history of the northern rif region. the project aims to showcase the heritage and history of the rif and to seek the means to preserving the collective memory of this northern region, el yazami told Map on the sidelines of an international seminar on "the rif cultural heritage: what museography?", held in Al Hoceima under the patronage of hm king mohammed vi. the museum will be designed to promote the rif heritage and highlight its contribution to moroccan history, added el yazami. he said the seminar, which brings together eminent moroccan and foreign experts, is an occasion to ponder on the future museum, noting that, to this end, two scientific committees were created to prepare for its creation. the opening ceremony of the two-day event was marked by a royal message to the participants, read out by el yazami. the seminar is initiated by the cndh in implementation of recommendations of the equity and reconciliation (ier) regarding archives, history and memory.
