Quran
Dubai - WAM

Objective reading and proper understanding of the Holy Quran opens new spiritual scopes of life for both Muslims and none-Muslims, and save them from punishment and darkness in life and the Hereafter.
This was pinpointed by the renowned Saudi Scholar Dr Abdulrazaq Albadr during the fifth lecture of the cultural program of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) held on Thursday night.
The 22-lecture program is part of the 11-category Award being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E., and Ruler of Dubai.
Elaborating how the Quran guides us to the best path, Dr Albadr said the faithful would only be eligible to the guidance of Quran by mulling over each and every verse; not only reciting, but more importantly observe its orders and prohibitions.
Almighty Allah has affirmed in Verse 9/17 that ‘Indeed, this Quran guides to all that is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.’ "Scholars say there are 2,800 different types of guidance in that inclusive verse which covers all aspects of life," he said, noting that not only Muslims but non-Muslims as well are urged to open-mindedly look into the Quran and objectively dwell on its miraculous verses.
Dr Albadr said a Muslim would have his heart opened, purified, and guided to the right path by reciting the Quran for implementation. "In Verse 24/47, Allah blames those who do not think of the Quran: ‘Do they not then reflect deeply upon the Quran, or are their hearts locked up?" He, whoever refuses to live with the Quran, is actually rejecting to light up his path, and wishes to remain in darkness, he warned. "Right understanding of the Quran opens new spiritual scopes as was the case with Jubair bin Mutam, a non-Muslim, whose heart was heavily moved when hearing Verse 35/52 ‘Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators?’.
Dr Al Badr said as Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was the final Messenger, he was sent to both humanity and jinn. "The story of the Jinn’s acceptance of Islam in Verse 29/46 shows how deep the Quran touched their hearts and turned them into callers for Islam when they attentively listen to its verses." Unlike the inherited faith, this kind of evidence-based belief is unshakable, he indicated. "Whenever we want to refresh our life and heighten our faith, we should resort to the Quran, the endless pure source of guidance." Dr Albadr said to read and think over one verse is much better than reading a full chapter as in verse 121/2 ‘Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They (do) believe in it (by doing so)’. "This three-partite work - recitation, meditation, and implementation, is inevitable for eligibility to Quran guidance." The Holy Quran shows the real diseases and best treatment alike, he said. "Sins are the main ‘microbes’ while Istighfar or seeking forgiveness is one of the most effective ‘medicines’. Whenever we read or listen to the Quran, we should expect an order, i.e. fast or a prohibition, i.e. never bribe, which are all for our benefit." Albadr affirmed that no matter what faith-free good deeds we do are futile as in Verse 5/5 ‘And whosoever disbelieves (in the Oneness of Allah and other Articles of Faith), then fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be among losers.’ "We should all observe how compliant with Quran we are as the eminent early scholar Al Hassan Al Basri was cited as saying ‘The Quran is revealed to be followed rather than be read.’ Meanwhile, the main competition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award is to start on Saturday July 05 at 10.30pm at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the first patch of eight contestants from Ethiopia, Benin, Iraq, Netherlands, Nepal, Zimbabwe, and Afghanistan.
