Some persons have pasted election campaigning placards on several monuments in central Moscow. Police has launched an inquiry over the incident, the Moscow police press service told Itar-Tass on Tuesday. The inquiry has been launched following complaints of citizens about the facts of monument desecration supposedly by supporters of one of the mayoral candidates, the press service said. The police source did not specify who of the candidates it was. However, photographs appeared in social networks showing posters on the monument to Vladimir Vysotsky that call for voting in favor of opposition candidate Alexei Navalny. Meanwhile, the electioneering team of Navalny denies its involvement in the incident. \"It is an obvious provocation. We did not do it,\" team head Leonid Volkov told Itar-Tass. \"Apparently, some want very much to cast aspersions on us,\" he supposed.
