Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization Dr. Abdullah Mhareb called on Friday for the restructuring of ALECSO and its human resources. Addressing meetings of ALECSO's Executive Council, Mhareb said proposals by the organization's committees aimed at developing the work of the Arab League body to cope with the information technology revolution as well as realizing the 2017-22 plan. He called on member countries to rapidly intervene to help the Comoros, Djibouti and Somalia to protect the Arabic identity in these countries which was facing "a new colonization." Mhareb also drew attention to the plight of the Syrian people, urging the Arab countries to support the Syrian students abroad. Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutawa, rotating president of the Executive Council, hoped ALECSO's performance and programs would be upgraded to improve the services in education, culture and sciences. Members of the Executive Council will be preparing for ALECSO's conference, due on May 27-28, launching an Arab cultural channel, and following the educational, cultural and scientific conditions in Palestine, as well as the 2015-16 budget.
