The Upper Egyptian governorate of Luxor witnessed early Tuesday the sun ray's perpendicular fall on the Holy of the Holiest (God Amoun) at Karnak Temple.
A ceremony was held as part of the governorate's efforts to promote tourism as the city also prepares to establish the European-Egyptian cinema festival and Luxor festival for African cinema other cultural events.
Luxor governor Tareq Saad El Din attended the ceremony along with a number of archeologists, astronomers, and Egyptologists.
Tourists along with local and international media teams also witnessed the event.
The religious complex of Karnak, in Luxor, is the largest ancient religious site in the world. It was the Vatican of its day – and four millennia after its heydays, continues to dwarf all other religious buildings.
