Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah on Wednesday visited Al-Qurain House on the occasion of the national days. During the visit he attended a celebration, co-organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) and the Amiri Diwan's Martyr's Office to mark Kuwait's 53rd National Day, the 23rd anniversary of Liberation Day and the 8th anniversary of His Highness the Amir's assumption of power. Speaking to reporters following the celebration, Sheikh Salman paid tribute to the Kuwaiti martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the liberation of their homeland from the Iraqi invasion. "Al-Qurain House symbolizes valiant resistance and self-denial shown by Kuwait patriots," he said. He recalling the heroic role of a group of Kuwaiti freedom fighters who barricaded themselves at the house on February 24, 1991, and continued fighting the Iraqi occupation army valiantly until all of them martyred. "Kuwait had lost more than 1,162 of her best patriots during that dark era, " Sheikh Salman added. He conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister to the organizers of, and the attendance at, the celebration.
