Kuwait's Ambassador to Germany Monther Bader Al-Essa said on Sunday that Kuwaiti first financial contribution was delivered to Al-Nour Islamic center to restore a mosque.
During a ceremony marking the delivery of the contribution, Ambassador Al-Essa expressed his hope that the center's officials could finish the mosque's restoration to help Muslims in Hamburg pray and perform their religious rituals.
The ceremony was attended by several Kuwaiti diplomats and the mosque's Sheikh Sameer Al-Rajab as well as a host of center's officials.
All officials discussed the center's activities in the city and plans of restoration which is planned to be finished by the end of 2015. Al-Rajab thanked Sate of Kuwait, saying Kuwait has been in lead of donation to Islamic centers and takes upon itself the issues of Muslims in the Diaspora.
He added that this fund will help "us complete the mosque's restoration to be adequate to the growing number of Muslims in Hamburg," noting the plot of land was bought in 2012.
The center, he noted, got all necessary licenses from local authorities to start the restoration. He went to say that the 1,700-square-meter mosque, will includes two separate rooms for lectures and a female prayer room.
Many activities will be conducted in the mosque, including lectures, workshops as well as a social center for adults, teenagers and women, he added.
Inside the mosque, Arabic and German lessons will be taught and there will be sessions of Qur'an recitation and gatherings in Eids and the holy month of Ramadan, he concluded.
