Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has announced that it is launching several activities across U.A.E. to mark Zayed Humanitarian Day, which falls on 19 Ramadan, in tribute to the nation's founding father and leading philanthropist, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
More than 25 federal ministries, government departments and private entities will mark the day, a reminder of the generosity of the late Sheikh Zayed, said Mohammad Haji Al Khoury, Director-General of Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in his remarks as he announced the launch of the activities at a press conference.
On Zayed Humanitarian Day, U.A.E. marks the anniversary of the death of Sheikh Zayed's spirit of giving and his efforts to promote the Emirati culture of giving across the world.
The generousity of the late Sheikh Zayed and President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in supporting humanitarian work around the world has made U.A.E. win the minds and hearts of peoples benefiting from its humanitarian projects, Al Khouri noted.
In July last year, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, issued an order changing the name of U.A.E. Humanitarian Day to Zayed Humanitarian Day.
"The late Sheikh Zayed is a symbol of giving, generousity, love, tolerance and humanitarian work, in the Gulf region, the wider Arab region and the whole world, and will always be the 'humanitarian leaders' who enabled U.A.E. to be at the forefront of states in terms of humanitarian aid.
Representatives of a number of government and private entities attended the press conference today.
Ibrahim bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates Post Group (EPG) said the group will issue a special stamp to mark Sheikh Zayed's 10th death anniversary.
