Fifty lawmakers Tuesday pressed the government to take "appropriate" action to block Israel's move to add two Arab villages in West Jerusalem to its list of heritage sites.
MP Khalil Atieh, who signed the memo, said that Israel had taken the decision to list the Arab villages of Lifta and Ein Karem as Israeli heritage sites although they are occupied.
The Al Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage has warned of the Israeli move to register the "ethnically cleansed" Palestinian village of Lifta in West Jerusalem and 500 dunums of its surrounding land as an Israeli heritage site.
The Foundation stressed that Lifta is an Arab and Muslim village with its history, landmarks, homes, and trees.
