His Majesty King Abdullah II, Wednesday, met with president of the Jeddah-based Islamic Fiqh Academy, Issam Al Bashir.
They discussed challenges facing the Arab and Muslim nations, especially in fighting terrorism and cowardly acts committed by extremist gangs and organizations in the name of Islam.
His Majesty stressed the importance of joint action by various pan-Muslim bodies, institutions and organizations to combat deviant ideology to protect future generations through a strategy based on the teachings of Islam and tolerant principles.
Al Bashir, who is former Awqaf minister of Sudan, offered his condolences to His Majesty and the people of Jordan over the martyrdom of pilot Muath Kasasbeh, who died defending his religion, his country and his faith.
He praised the King's stances in promoting security, stability, and clarifying the true image of Islam as well as initiatives launched by Jordan, including the Message of Amman, in order to promote dialogue between religions and maximize commonality.
The official emphasized the need for a unified pan-Muslim stance and effort against terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, the Director of the Office of His Majesty the King, and the minister of Awqaf.
