Minister of Mujahideen Tayeb Zitouni, affirmed Tuesday that the recorded testimonies of the Mujahideen on the plagues of the colonialism total so far 4,000 hours.
"The National Museum of Mujaheed, coming under the Mujahideen Ministry recorded so far 4,000 hours of testimonies of war veterans who witnessed different stages of the revolution, the minister said in an interview with APS on the eve of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of November Revolution.
He appealed to all those who lived through the revolution to give evidence "as soon as possible," so, he said, to contribute to the writing of Algeria’s history.
The minister highlighted the "capital" interest that his department grants to the writing of history, pointing out that all the material and audiovisual materials needed were mobilized.
On a question on the process of the revolution history writing, he said that many war veterans, despite their age, gave their testimony either at the Mujahid Museum or individually (memories or audio recording).
The Department of Mujahideen launched a huge campaign to collect as many living testimonies, he said.
During this interview, the minister insisted on the growing awareness of the Algerian historians and researchers on the importance of writing the history of the national movement and the November Revolution. In this regard, he cited the important number of books and
publications released everyday in Algeria or outside.
However, Zitouni said that the pace of writing is "not satisfactory."
"We have thousands of history books and on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of national revolution, we will publish several titles in Arabic, English, French and Amazigh, besides the memories of mujahideen which are being written."
