The Supreme Public Funds Prosecutor (SPFP) decided to hold back investigations of the allegations submitted by Yasser Ahmed Seif El Din, chairman of the International Association for Development, Environment and Culture against Farouk Hosni, former minister of culture and Zahi Hawass, minister of state for antiquities. Seif el Din claimed that both Hosni and Hawass offered Suzane Thabet, wife of former president Hosni Mubarak, an authentic gold necklace once belonging to Princess Samiha, a member of the Mohamed Ali family. This necklace was on display at the jewellery museum in Alexandria. Upon submission of the accusation report, several investigations were carried out by the Supreme Public Funds Prosecutor in Alexandria who asserted that all accusations are unfounded and the necklace is still in its original display at the museum. The SPFP then decided to hold back the investigations. According to a press release sent by the ministry of state for antiquities (MSA) to Ahram Online, Seif el Din submitted an official apology to the prosecutor for what he did. In their turn both Hosni and Hawass gave up the insult or libel lawsuit filed against him before the misdemeanours court . from ahramonline .
