The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) is reaching out to the public through it participation at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Show (ADIHEX) 2015, which started on September 9 and will continue to run until September 12, with an interactive stand that showcases the Emirate's unique natural heritage and highlights the importance of the community's role in protecting it.
The EAD stand will highlight its efforts across the land, sea, and air to protect Abu Dhabi's environment. There will be a series of interactive and informative activities with a special focus on the reintroduction of the Scimitar Horned Oryx to its natural habitat in Chad, dwindling fish stocks and the importance of adopting sustainable fishing practices, monitoring air quality, and the unique natural beauty of Bu Tinah Island.
Visitors will be able to experience an interactive tour with many different exciting stops. At the first stop, EAD narrates the story of the Scimitar-horned Oryx and how it is working with its partners to ensure that it is released back into the wild.
At the second stop, visitors will be able to learn more about the overexploited state of the UAE's fisheries, through a short movie where older fishermen share their wisdom on sustainable fishing practices.
At the third stop, stand visitors will learn more about EAD's efforts to measure and monitor air pollutants through its extensive air quality network, including 20 stationary and 2 mobile stations.
To celebrate the nation's beloved icon, EAD will be featuring Bu Tinah Island on the stand where visitors can learn more about this unique natural island at the heart of the Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve.
To provide an experience for all senses, EAD commissioned a fragrance specialist to visit a number of sites in the Emirate with the purpose of recreating her olfactory journey for visitors at ADIHEX. The journey included the Mangrove National Park, the Sweihan desert, the sea at Al Gharbiya –Marfa city, Al Ain Jebel Hafeet, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, and the Al Hili oasis. Visitors will be able to go on this journey through their sense of smell, by enjoying the fragrances inspired by the different sites that were visited during this journey.
