The Muslims in Europe are integral pat of the European community, as they enjoy all their rights and also have obligations and duties, Egypt's mufti Shawki Allam said Wednesday.
During a meeting Dutch ambassador to Egypt Gerard Steeghs, Allam voiced his concerns over the growing Islamophobia in the western countries, in the wake of protests staged in some European countries that raised anti-Islam and Muslims slogans.
Allam stressed that there was no way for peaceful life in Europe without culture of coexistence and tolerance.
Commenting on stigmatizing Islam with terrorism, Allam underscored that neither Islam nor any divine religion had any link with extremism.
Steeghs conveyed his country's appreciation for the mufti's efforts in expounding the real teachings of Islam, and countering extremist thoughts.
