Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam will start a European tour on Sunday to clarify the true values of Islam and build bridges of cooperation with the West.
The tour will start with the Netherlands and then France, Dar al Iftaa said in a press release.
In the Netherlands, the mufti will meet with the Dutch foreign and interior ministers and parliament members.
He will deliver a lecture to over 1,000 students at Utrecht University on Islam and challenges of religious extremism.
The mufti will also meet with the mayors of The Hague and Rotterdam.
Meanwhile in France, Allam will be meeting with the diplomatic adviser of the French prime minister and officials of the anti-extremism program.
He will hold a session at the French Senate to address the threat of terrorism in the region and the issue of interfaith dialogue.
