Antiquities minister inspects Seti I temple in Suhag

Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim inspected renovation works at temple of Seti I in the Upper Egyptian province of Suhag on Wednesday. The temple is located at Abydos, one of the oldest cities of ancient Egypt. The development project is part the ministry's plan to put the city on the map of world top tourist attractions. The minister, who visited Luxor yesterday, called for wrapping up the renovation works at the temple. Abydos is notable for the memorial temple of Seti I, pharaoh of the New Kingdom's Nineteenth dynasty of Egypt, the son of Ramesses I and Queen Sitre, and the father of Ramesses II. The temple contains an inscription from the nineteenth dynasty known to the modern world as the Abydos King List.
