Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh el Damati held on Thursday an inspection tour to a number of archaeological areas in Saqqara of Giza governorate.
The minister inspected the renovation works in Maia's tomb, the wet nurse of King Tutankhamun, in Saqqara area.
The tomb will be open to tourists for the first time since it was discovered in 1996.
Maia's tomb was discovered by the French Egyptologist Alain Zivie.
The minister also inspected the renovation works in a tomb affiliated to Ramses II messenger to foreign countries.
He also inspected the discovering works held by Archaeology Faculty of Cairo University in the area.
Damati also visited Mit Rahina area to inspect Apis and Ptah temples.
During his tour, the minister said the ministry is cooperating with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to develop archaeological areas in Saqqara and Mit Rahina.
Giza Governor Khaled Zakaria and other officials also attended the inspection tour.
