Prominent Albanian artist Saimir Strati created a new Guinness World Record on Saturday evening when his latest work was certified as "the Largest Pipe Mosaic."
The piece, named "Adam's Apple" and located in the southwestern city of Fier, measures 30 square meters and features the bitten apple of the Garden of Eden. It is made of some 150,000 drinking straws.
"The image consists of the bitten apple and inside it is the entire globe which is drawn with all its beauties and features," said Strati, already a holder of seven Guinness mosaic records previously.
"My aim is not only to win another Guinness award, but to convey a clear message about the importance of protecting the environment," added the artist, who has worked for about 16 hours a day in the main public garden in Fier for the piece.
He said the technique of making mosaic with drinking straws has never been used before and thus his work sets a new Guinness category.
