The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb on Wednesday inaugurated Al-Azhar's anti-terrorism, anti-extremism conference.
The event was attended by 600 Muslim scholars from 120 countries, heads of eastern churches, representatives of some other sects that suffered from the criminal acts of terrorists.
The opening session was also attended by Egypt's Mufti Dr. Shoqi Allam and leaders of Al-Azhar and Endowments.
Also, former Arab League's Secretary-General Amr Moussa, some provincial governers, the secretary-general of Islamic Research Centre Dr. Mohei-al-Deen Afifi, ambassadors of some Islamic and Arab countries in Cairo, Muslim and Christian VIPs from several countries and representatives from the Vatican also attended the conference's inaugural ceremony.
The conference will address a message to the world from Al-Azhar in Cairo on behalf of all Muslim and Christian scholars all over the world announcing their rejection of all forms and manifestations of terrorism and extremism and their rejection of acts of terrorism and purported western Islam-o-phobia.
