Iran resumed export of natural gas to Turkey on Friday after an 8-day cut. The cut of gas export was due an explosion in the pipeline at Turkish side said Javad Oji, the managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC). In earlier reports repair works to be conducted by the Turkish gas company Botash was mentioned as the reason for the stop of gas flow. This was the third explosion at the pipeline in the past two months mainly carried out by the Kurdish militant groups. Iran exports a daily volume of 30 million cm or an annual volume of 10 billion cm of gas to Turkey. Iran says it is technically able to increase the amount by 50%. The gas contract was signed 1996 between the two countries over annual export of 10 billion cm for 25 years.
